August Break 2012 – Day 1
Okay. So, I’ve decided to go with the “month of plastic fantastic” – shooting only with my new 50 mm lens for August Break. PLUS, I’ll be trying to work in “shots of strangers” whenever I get the opportunity – which, with the kids and an upcoming trip, may not happen as regularly as I hope. 😉
Day 1 – In Which We Build A Tent
And I discover how annoying the resulting blue light is. 😉 (Thank goodness for PSE9!)
And in which I muster up the courage to ask to take a photo of Vicki – a bubbly women who lives on our block, and who I’ve been chatting with just over the last couple of weeks about my garden. She came over today to pick up some of the plants I had offered her, and it turns out she’s a teacher who is also into photography and gardening. Small world. Maybe next time I’ll ask her for tea. =)
It’s going to be a challenging month, I can tell. Totally not in the habit of using the lens… or shooting / editing raw… or trying to capture anything other than quick “snaps”… <big breath> Okay. Here we go!

Kate, I am quite sure you will end up loving this lens.
If you are used to a zoom, it will take some getting used to, because you have to work a bit harder for the shot, but it is such a versatile lens.
That’s what I’m hoping, Lisa. And I’ve given myself the month to give it an honest-to-goodness shot. Already, I’m enjoying the fact that the camera+lens is small enough to throw into my bag… 😉
