August Break 2012 – Day 11Great Falls to Boz
The second day of our trip meant one thing…
Great Falls WATERPARK!!!
After breakfast at the hotel, packing up the car, and some time-killing at the mall, we all headed to the “Electric City Waterpark“. Remember kids: in real life, water and electricity do NOT mix. 😉
It’s a city-run waterpark with a few smallish slides, a very chilly kids area (with a fountainy thingy), and the coolest part of all – the Flow Rider / Lazy River / Tube Slide. Major awesomeness! Except that Monkeyboy Junior Jr. and I totally wiped out on our way into the Lazy River from the bottom of the Tube Slide. It had a wickedly rough entry to the “ground level” waters, and our first run of the day ended up with us underwater, getting banged up and a bit bloody, me losing my sunglasses, and MBJJ being DONE with the pools for good. Major suckage. =(
But, at least it allowed me to go and get my camera and snap some pics of the boys on the Flow Rider!
Monkeyboy Jr. had 50/50 luck with staying in the bowl.
Because he was so light, he would often get shunted into the lazy river instead. But, oh boy, when he caught the waves just right… he had a BLAST!
As did his father…
… who put some of his surfing skills to test…
… but who also occasionally got shunted out the back.
I too tried the Flow Rider, and managed to board down to the bottom of the bowl before getting dumped out (to the top of the Tube Ride). But. The re-entry to the Lazy River got me yet again, tossing me off my board and twisting my back painfully. I decided to take it easy with MBJJ for the rest of the day.
One drawback about the 50mm lens is that it makes taking good self-portraits a whole lot more challenging. 😉
MBJJ and I showered off and got dressed, then shared some SunChips and a blue raspberry Slush Puppy as we wondered around the park, splashing in puddles.
Soon enough, it was time for my surfer boys and I to hit the road again.
A quiet drive, peppered with road construction and rain, finally brought us to Bozeman, MT a little after dinner time.
We were all starving, so I went out to forage for dinner.
I found my way around pretty well. The Boz is a cute little town.
And then we had ourselves a little hotel room picnic. Followed by some serious relaxing and deep, deep sleep. When I wasn’t being reflux-kicked by a small child, that is. 😉
