Self Love 365
Last year, I had the great pleasure of attending a class called “Self Love 365”.
It was hosted at the gorgeous Wolf Willow Studio here in Calgary, which is owned and operated by the lovely and talented Michelena Bamford (left). The class itself was run by the fabulous Belinda Fireman (right), whose paintings I absolutely adore! And as the class blurb stated: “After an informal presentation and demonstration from Belinda, students will be creating their very own “inchie” art pieces that reflect and acknowledge their own beauty!” Which, of course, I did.
I decided to take the class because I really wanted to dust off my drawing skills (naïve as they may be) and do a little more daily “playing”. Meeting interesting women and showing myself a little more appreciation was also a huge perk, and I thought that an inch a day for a month wasn’t too much to commit to (and thus stress me out). Sadly, life got in the way, as it generally does around here. I got about two weeks in before kids and illness and other commitments got in the way. I tried picking the practice up again in the fall… for about another week. At which point I misplaced my sketchbook. For months. Oy.
When I saw that the class was being offered again this year, I jumped at the second chance (AND tore apart my office to find that darn sketchbook!)
Once again, it was a total blast! There was dancing. And delicious tea. And heavenly chocolate. Not to mention the amazing women and incredible art! Plus, I’m happy to report that not only have I completed over a month’s worth of inchies (total), but I am now moving on to page two!
In addition to being a little bit proud of myself about all of this drawing, the class has also served to reboot my partaking in other creative endeavors, small though they may be. But I shall save that for another post. =) Thanks again, ladies, for all of the inspiration!!!
(This is one of my favourite inchies thus far…)
