August Break 2014 – Week Four
My high school Sandcastles (drama club) Reunion continued through the weekend…
Then and Now
And naturally… Jazz Hands!
It was an amazingly wonderful time. <3 Which necessitated some serious resting after it was all said and done. 😉
Day 26 Prompt – Morning: Rainbows in My Milk (thanks to a well placed piece of glass art in the front window and the morning sun)
After getting some back-to-school shopping out of the way, the boys and I went on an explore. We drove through my childhood neighbourhood and discovered some new and amazing community gardens!
The Secret (No Longer) Gardens
Day 27 Prompt – Lines: Pathway at the Thyme Labyrinth
Sadly, however, it became quite clear that summer is making way for autumn…
Day 29 Prompt – Nature: First Golden Signs of Fall (Noooooooooo!)
But it isn’t all bad… at least not in the tasty department.
The Autumn (and Winter) Salad – Goodness From the Garden (purple carrots, beets, and apples on greens)
Turkey Soup With Garden Veggies (leeks, carrots, potatoes, peas… and frozen corn)
It just means we have to squeeze as much summer as we can out of what we have left.
Taking the Canoe Out on the Glenmore Reservoir
Savouring Every Last Drop of Sun
A couple of last minute August Break posts…
Day 30 Prompt – Soft: Something About This Feather vs. Crystal Juxtaposition Caught My Eye
Day 31 Prompt – Love: Date Night Celebrating Our 14th Anniversary (the close up of us together sadly didn’t come out)
And that was the end of August Break. It took a while for me to “get into it”, but once I did, I very much enjoyed it once more. I liked being “forced” to look for good images with the daily prompts, as I’ve been a little scattered and focused elsewhere lately. Although it was a bit stressful to find images at times – but that was just my own “need to follow through daily” obsession. It is so worth it, though, to be able to look back and see such wonderful memories for the month. August Break has changed over the years, though… from being Flickr to Instagram focused, and being prompt-based vs. free for all. But I found it much easier to contribute and keep up this way. Hopefully by next August I’ll be a bit more organized and able to shoot with my “big girl” camera again… I really enjoyed the summer I used my 50mm lens for every shot. Anyhow. Thanks again, Susannah Conway! And everyone else who liked/commented on my posts. =)
Then… it was time for school to begin.
