Hell Or High Water
Long story short, my city – and several parts of my province – have been placed under a state of emergency due to severe flooding. Lucky for us, we live on a hill and have been out of harm’s way. Others have not been as fortunate. The devastation is vast. Lives lost. Homes destroyed. Everything… changed. But. The one good thing to come out of all of this is the coming together of community. Strangers helping strangers, everybody pulling together to make things right again. Or at least as right as they can be. And for this generosity of spirit, I am grateful.
I guess I am just posting to explain why I haven’t been, and likely won’t be, posting much lately. I’ve closed up the Etsy shop temporarily. After the Canada Day sale (the original Market Collective sale I was to participate in was rescheduled to a City “block party” event) is done, and I’ve donated proceeds towards flood relief funds, I doubt I will be crafting much for a while. There is much to do elsewhere. So. Take care. And take a moment to be grateful for the goodness in your own life.
With the annual event less than two weeks away (only a week, now), and the site of the event in one of the main flooding zones, the can-do spirit of my city shone through.
