Flickr Networking
So, when I first joined August Break in 2010, I discovered that you can actually build a fantastic network of friends on Flickr in three easy ways. 1 -By selecting people as contacts (a lot of time, they will select you right back). 2 – By routinely commenting on photos (show up often enough and they start to recognize you and comment back on yours). And 3 -By joining/submitting photos to groups (look, it’s a captive audience!) When you can’t get out much, it’s really nice to have these cyber-friends to connect with.
A few weeks ago, I was invited to join a group called “These Moments” weekly challenge, and just last week, I was invited to join a group called “The Monday Mosaic”. It’s always kind of thrilling when somebody likes your work enough to ask you to join something. 😉 Anyhow, as I’ve been working on photos for my gratitude journal anyway, I though I’d start submitting to these groups – maybe not as regularly as I did with August Break, but still. I’m excited to have another “outlet” for my silly little pics, but without the pressure of daily posting. And so… here are a few snaps from our weekend that I was working on, punched-up in Pixlr-o-matic (in case you couldn’t tell)…
I saw this cool truck while running errands on Friday afternoon.
We went out to “Mucho Burrito” for date night dinner – yum.
Then we hit the mall for a rare shopping-without-children excursion. Here, I made my hubby pose with the Old Navy mannequins. My instructions were “Smile straight ahead and have dead shark eyes”. 😉

Monkeyboy Junior decided to roll down a hill on the way to the car.
Which made Monkeyboy Junior Jr. soooo happy.
Then on Sunday, we spent some time at Chapters. Here I am with a stack of magazines to peruse whilst the kidlets played in the kidlet area.
We finished it off with some amazing scallops, risotto and wine… but I’m afraid I was a little too tipsy to remember to take any photos. Oh, well… 😉

I have a question for you?
How do you get the little link “blogged at…” above your pictures? Such a good way to plug your blog. Speaking of blogs, I keep finding more and more I love. I keep joining more flickr groups, then forget to upload pictures to them. I have not been in sewing room forever, and I have 2 books going. Not to mention have to put my fall bulbs in. Sigh, so many pursuits, so little time.

Ha! I TOTALLY get that. As you can see, I’ve been absent from my own blog for over a week… I just spent today trying to weed the bed for the bulbs to go in. Oy.
As for the link, when you upload your photos, you can add one in the “description” box when you put in the details (like title, tags, etc.) Just type “As blogged at http://www.manyslices.typepad.com” in that box and it will turn it into a link for you. Or, if you want to add it to photos you’ve already posted, just click on the box under the title and do so. Just remember to save this new info…

OK I think I can handle that.
I was right clicking stuff and trying to paste urls and all that sort of nonsense.
I have major fuzzy brain, and can hardly type anything.
Loaded a couple of pics this morning, and probably won’t load more till after the weekend.
My best friend talked me into going to NYC with her! husband and children included! Quite frankly I am getting nervous about hauling 4 children around the big apple…how do I pack? and is it socially acceptable to tether a 2 year old to your hand with a rope cuz my youngest children does not listen, is very curious, and can outrun any adult!

As for NYC, as far as I can remember, pretty much anything goes. Remember – it’s an adventure, and is only for a short while, so if you forget something – oh, well! Have an amazing time!!!
